When the statue of unity of the great Sardar Vallabhai Patel was opened for public, or even when it was planned and even recently there are a lot of controversies surrounding the same. The left-wing seems very unhappy about it and the liberals are busy spreading propaganda. Right from rumours of the origin and construction, there is a lot of misinformation spread by the haters.
A woke liberal Meetu Jain wad spreading misinformation about the construction of the statue on Twitter. The Statue of Unity was built by L&T India from the iron and all materials that were sourced locally. Only a small portion of finishing work was given to a chines contractor for the statue.
However another Twitter user, Mr Sanjay has exposed her false propaganda. Why is it that these liberals and congressies find everything done by the government wrong? Why is it that the country comes second to their propaganda?
The most popular argument to hate the Project (of the statue of unity) is that the government has spent ₹3,000 crores on it but it doesn’t help the country or the economy in any way. The liberals feel that the money could be spent on something better than the statue like on public facilities or elsewhere.
so, is statue of unity a waste of money? Is it an unwanted expenditure? , Absolutely not, the statue of unity is a tourist spot now and it does help to contribute to the economy.
Let us look at the facts about the investment and revenue of the statue. The statue of unity was opened for the public in November 2018 and has generated a revenue of 116.31 crores in the time span of 15 months only from the ticket collection and parking fees. Also, a total of 42,58,060 people visited the statue in 15 months which is a monthly average of 2,66,129 people.
The official government sources indicate that over 3,000 people are working as drivers, Photographers, tour guides, Security Guard, Animal Keeper, Operations, Maintenance & Repair Staff etc. And during the construction of the statue, a lot of locals were employed resulting in a good number of employment opportunities. The project is a success because of the new opportunities it has created. The hotels and lodges would get more business and the fact that tourists from different places visit the statue open up a lot of business opportunities. [Source]
So, I would like to conclude that the statue of unity is not a waste of money, but a real tourist spot of significance that reminds the country of a great man like Sardar Patel while also generating a lot of jobs and revenue thereby contributing to the economy.
